22Puneet Gupta is the founder and President of Extra Curricular Network Australia (ECNA), a unique student-run, not for-profit organisation providing a centralised forum for students to actively participate in extra-curricular endeavours.

ECNA’s vision is to create a socially active student base with skills allowing them to become ethical and responsible leaders of tomorrow.

Puneet is in his fourth year at University of Melbourne, completing Bachelors of Commerce and Engineering (Mechanical) where he is a member of the Student Ambassador Leadership Program. His contributions to community and university were recently recognised when awarded the ExxonMobil Award for Excellence Scholarship.

Aside from ECNA, Puneet has been an active member of the community for several years. Puneet recently completed his role as a facilitator to students involved in the Student Ambassador Leadership Program (SALP). He was actively involved in Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning Program (SAIL) assisting Sudanese refugee children in the local community on a regular basis. Puneet also volunteered in Guatemala assisting children from a low socio-economic background in the Quichean region.

Puneet was awarded the University of Melbourne’s Global Mobility Scholarship for the study abroad program to McGill University, Montreal, Canada where he worked closely with Oxfam and had an opportunity to explore regional towns of Quebec Province.

In July 2009, Puneet was invited to meet with the Dean of Universita Ca’Foscari in Venice, Italy to discuss Social Responsibility. His experiences as a child growing up in  Nairobi, Kenya led him to explore lifestyles in various parts of the world, he has travelled widely to over thirty countries within five continents.

From his leadership experiences and academic excellence, Puneet was selected to attend the 2009 Future Leaders Forum: “Leaders in a Turbulent World”.

Puneet aspires to make a sustainable and positive difference to the lives of impoverished people in sub-Saharan Africa.
