Teach For Australia is an innovative organisation which engages our nation’s best graduates in addressing one of Australia’s most pressing social issues – educational disadvantage.

Our mission is to confront educational disadvantage by transforming outstanding graduates from all disciplines into exceptional teachers and inspirational leaders who are knowledgeable about education and social issues, committed to educational equality and destined to become exceptional leaders in their fields. Our vision is of an Australia where all children have excellent education opportunities.

You can be a part of this by teaching for two years in a disadvantaged school where your energy, enthusiasm and drive can help positively impact the lives of your students and their communities.

Teach For Australia’s approach, theory of change, and impact, draws upon the experience of other affiliated programs such as Teach First in the UK and Teach For America in the US.

Who we look for?
Teach For Australia seeks well-rounded individuals with a track record of achievement – in their studies, work and extracurricular activities with a will and desire to make a difference by confronting educational disadvantage in Australia.

While Teach For Australia accepts applications from all degree graduates (excluding education) we are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have studied or worked in fields relating to maths, science, engineering and ICT.

In order to apply for our 2011 Associate program, applicants must submit an online application via our website. The Teach For Australia selection process is as follows:

Step 3: Selection Day

To be eligible to apply for our 2011 cohort, you must:

• Have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency;
• Maintain a High Credit Average, or higher;
• Complete your Bachelors degree by November 2010 at the latest;
• Not have a degree or diploma in Education (which would already make you qualified to teach in Australian schools)
