Young UN Women

Program Description

Young UN Women is an offshoot of UN WOMEN Australia which specifically focuses on engaging young people (aged 15 -35) in gender and development issues. The Young UN

Women Melbourne Chapter is run by a fun and friendly network of local young people committed to development in and outside Australia.

The Melbourne Committee was formed in June 2009 after the committee founders held a successful schools forum. Interest from volunteers and event organisers led to the official creation of the committee in July. The committee now has an effective operational structure and a large body of members. It has organised various successful events and has plans to expand and engage broader key stakeholders throughout 2011 and 2012.
