Youth Challenge Australia

Youth Challenge AustraliaProgram Description

YCA is a non-profit, non-religious organisation that actively engages in grass roots community work in developing regions of the world. Volunteers work collaboratively with local communities on projects that focus on health, education, conservation, infrastructure or social development. The projects are identified by our local partners in conjunction with the communities they work with. As YCA volunteers are hosted by the communities they work with, this deepens links between both the community, and the volunteers themselves. YCA volunteers become part of a unique cross cultural experience which remains in both community members’ and volunteers’ memories for years to come. Volunteers can work with Indigenous communities in Central Australia or developing communities in India, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guyana, Mexico or Vanuatu.

Testimonials

“I think the most important and amazing thing was the bond we formed, with both the community and also with each other. Having such a supportive and caring group and knowing we could count on each other just like a family was really important. Personally my life has changed. I know that whatever path I pursue, I want to do something meaningful, where I am helping people and making a difference even if it’s in a small way.”

- Jane Hunt, Costa Rican volunteer
